A Human Vehicle
Patryk Musielak
Vehicles nowadays are designed as objects existing in a given context. Designers are taking into consideration many elements from local market and aesthetic preferences to aerodynamics and ergonomics. All those elements are inputs but the final object is a product on its own working within the overall scenario. In the close future mobility would need to change into integral part of our cities. Looking at the urbanism tendencies we could already predict some future directions for example using vehicles as planters when parked or changing their movement into more animal inspired natural flow. Those elements would bring vehicles closer to the city today but tomorrow a new challenge will face us all. The issue of rights to the city. Common spaces were always designed by majorities. Those were cars recently and horses in the past and will be autonomous vehicles in the future. To respect human rights and create a comfortable space for us all I predicted those vehicles to came closer to a human being. With its size speed or behaviour the closer they will come the more comfortable we will feel sharing our streets with them.
