Voluntary Consent

This is a voluntary consent and login process for the symposium. To assist with IT management pre-registration is a good idea. Once voluntary consent is completed you will be able to attend the online symposium. Voluntary consent is for:

  1. Contact detail information (name, email) is private and confidential will not be used for any other purpose than for the specific research purpose. Contact information (protected information) is regarded as confidential and only accessible to the research team.

  2. Protected information [as defined by the UK Data Protection Act 2018] will NOT be stored personal cloud services, such as Dropbox, Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. Any portable media, such as USB storage devices, removable hard drives, CDs or DVDs, that are used to hold personal, confidential or sensitive data will be securely stored on-premises and appropriately encrypted when used off-premises. Any breach of data security will be reported to the Royal College of Art within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.

  3. Audio-visual recording of the online symposium will be managed by the research team.

  4. All information or data collected during the symposium is used for research only. Selected information may be disclosed though the publication of the PhD.

  5. The conduct of the research, including how data will be gathered, analysed and managed is set out in the research methodology. (ADD IN link).

  6. Written permission will be sought from you if the information provided at the online symposium is used in the PhD

  7. Prior to consenting, international participants are to advise the researcher if there are additional country - specific ethical research requirements; otherwise UK Code of Practice for Research Integrity applies

  8. All intellectual property rights are waived as this is open source research[1]

  9. The overall project is programmed to be completed in 2024; the website and all data will cease, data archived and will not be used after the PhD has been awarded. All data will be destroyed after the award

  10. Your consent may be withdrawn by you at any time.

The login process includes a simple two-step process of identification and consent:

  1. Your title, full name and email contact.

  2. Consent button.

The login process provides a record of your consent, which will be emailed to you. Feedback forms are provided; these are critical to the improvement of the research, so please feel free to contact us.
