Mobility Metamorphosis Symposium

Royal College of Art intelligent Mobility Design Centre (IMDC)

1 April 2022

The Mobility Metamorphosis symposium will discuss the possibilities of a just transition in urban mobility, the cultural, technological, societal, ethical and aesthetic drivers of change which should inform the future designs for autonomous, shared, and sustainable mobility. It brings together researchers on architecture, city, mobility, technology and environment to address the need for cross-disciplinary collaboration to develop mobility solutions.

A workshop is facilitated by Colin Polwarth

  • Symposium 5 - 24 May 2023

A spatial and environmental justice study into connected autonomous renewable energy vehicles and the city

  • Symposium 4 - May 2022

How can we transform the paradigms of mobility respecting nature, people and planet?

  • Symposium 3 - Feb 25 & March 18

Interactions with Connnected Autonomus renewable energy vehicles in the city.

  • Symposium 2 - 10 July 2020

Transfiguration or chaos - connected autonomous vehicles (CAV), ‘the right to the city’, and, the environment.

  • Symposium 1 - 15 June 2018

Communications for the future autonomous renewable energy (AREV) vehicle in the urban context.

The research is focussed on a connected autonomous vehicle and the city and the semiotics; the signs and communications that will make living with synthetically intelligent vehicles and cities desirable.

The vision is to find a pathway for a more liveable city, one that is environmentally positive, convenient, understandable, safe, efficient, just and humane. A magical transformation through vehicle designed for the city and its communities.
